Mass Grave Discovered in Hasriya in Hama
Activists have reported the discovery of a mass grave in Hasriya in rural Hama containing several bodies, following the liberation of a checkpoint which has been controlled by Syrian Regime soldiers in the area.
In the details provided and according to eye witnesses, the “Abu Ja’far” checkpoint of the Syrian regime set up in Hasriya, Hama had been a point of clashes between the opposition forces and that of the Syrian regime, eventually falling to the control of the opposition forces.
Upon their control of the checkpoint, the opposition forces combed the area close to the checkpoint, and discovered the mass grave containing tens of bodies and limbs. The bodies show visible signs of breakage as a result of torture or being subjected to live fire. It is not clear whether those killed are civilians or fighters, and the number of bodies is still unknown.
This mass grave places renewed responsibility on the international community to stop the shedding of blood in Syria. If it is proven that the regime has indeed committed these mass massacres then SHRC calls upon the international community to immediately present all those who participated in these massacres to fair courts for trial.
