Will Nowrooz Celebrations Pass in Peace this Year: Death and Injuries
SHRC

Despite the official consent to allow celebrations for the Nawrooz season this year in Kurdish populated areas, and which begins 21 of March, it seems that there are security interventions to create disturbance.

It has been reported to the Syrian Human Rights Committee as urgent news that a mixed patrol of police and security have raided the village of Burj Abdalu which is close to Basoota in Ifrin, and arrested a citizen called Fareed Jamu, as well as destroying the area in which the Nowrooz fire is ignited in the village.

It was reported by the correspondent of the Sawbaro website that the police and security patrol fired at the Kurds celebrating in Al-Raqqah, close to Al-Sawami’. There are reports of people having died or injured, although they are in conflict over the numbers. The injured were taken to Al-Raqqah hospital, some of whom were in a very critical condition. It has also come to light that the victim is a young girl of 15 years, and the injured include: Mohammed Khalil, Kanyawar Sabri, Mahmoud Mustafa, Wabin Mohammed Kado and Ibn Mahmoud al-Awqaaf.

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) calls upon the Syrian Authorities to stop all types of provocation and allow the Nowrooz celebrations to continue in peace in which our Kurdish brothers can express their happiness at this occasion.
