Massacres committed across the country
The Syrian regime forces committed a massacre yesterday in the al-Shamaas neighbourhood in Homs, after it had shelled it with heavy artillery, raided it, and killed more than ten civilians, arresting approximately 200 according to eyewitnesses and injuring more than 20 civilians. Today, the regime’s forces raided the city of Areeha in rural Idlib and committed another massacre when it carried out summary executions in excess of forty people, injured tens of civilians and targeted private and field hospitals.
At the Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC), whilst we offer our condolences to the families of the victims and our sympathies to the injured, we condemn, in the strongest terms the regime which is committing these horrific massacres, and which are increasing due to the inactive position of the of the international community regarding what is happening in Syria. SHRC calls upon the United Nations to take practical and immediate steps to stop the regime from committing massacres, to investigate what has been committed, and to bring all perpetrators to justice immediately.
