Habeeb Salih Rearrested
SHRC

Human Rights sources in Syria have reported that on Wednesday 7/5/2008 the security forces arrested the activist and ex-detainee Habeeb Salih from the market in the coastal city of Tartous.

This is the third detention that the writer Habeeb Salih has been subjected to. Habeeb Salih was detained for three years in what was known as the “Damascus’ Spring Detainees” between 12/9/2001 and 9/9/2004, and for another three years between 20/5/2005 and 12/9/2007.

The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) strongly condemns the re-detention of Mr. Habeeb Salih and requests for his immediate release and the release of all prisoners of conscience in the Syrian regime prisons. SHRC also calls for an end to all arbitrary and despotic arrests.
