Urgent Appeal for the release of Mohammed Talib
SHRC

The Syrian Military Intelligence arrested university student Mohammed Abdul Qader Talib in Aleppo on 10/1/2007. Mohammed Abdul Qader Talib is a student at the Engineering College in Al-Itihad University, situated in the town of Manbij. Both the reason for his arrest/the accusation levelled at him and his place of detention are unknown. He has been completely cut off from the world ever since his arrest.
The Syrian Human Rights Committee expresses its fear that Mohammed Abdul Qader Talib may be subjected to torture and ill treatment and calls upon the Syrian Authorities to release him immediately and reveal why it arrested him. SHRC also requests the Syrian Authorities to stop its routine practise of arbitrary arrests that are based upon no legal accusation or permission from the attorney general, as well as to stop the Syrian Security and particularly the Military Branch from terrorising peaceful civilians.
